It houses a total of 392 rooms, divided between the Hotel Wing with 173 rooms and the Condo Wing with 219 rooms.

By car from Seoul, it takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach Lotte Resort Sokcho. Since gas stations within Sokcho are not conveniently close to the resort, it’s recommended to refuel at the last highway rest stop before arrival.

If traveling by express bus from Seoul, depart from the Seoul Express Bus Terminal in Banpo-dong, Gangnam, and reach Sokcho Express Bus Terminal in about 2 hours and 20 minutes. From the bus terminal, it’s roughly a 5-minute taxi ride to the resort. As Lotte Resort Sokcho is situated on a hillside, using a taxi is recommended if you have heavy luggage.

Lotte Resort Sokcho is housed in a single large building, divided into the Hotel Wing and the Condo Wing. Curious about the difference between the two?

The Hotel Wing rooms do not have in-room kitchen facilities, so cooking is not possible, and the rooms are designed for 2 to 4 guests only. In contrast, the Condo Wing features in-room kitchens, allowing guests to prepare their own meals, and accommodates groups from 3 up to 8 guests.

Similarly, valet parking differs: guests staying in Hotel Wing suites receive complimentary valet service for up to 2 vehicles per night, once per vehicle, while Condo Wing suite guests must pay 20,000 KRW per valet service.

An Ondol Room refers to a Korean-style heated floor room. In this traditional setup, bedding is laid directly on the warm floor, providing cozy comfort—especially popular with Korean and Japanese travelers during the winter months. Don’t worry about summer stays: the floor heating is turned off, so the room remains cool and comfortable for a restful night’s sleep.

    Lotte Resort Sokcho: Check-In Guide

    1. Location of Check-In: Check-in is handled at the front desk located inside the first-floor lobby. Because this is a large resort property with a high room count, the front desk is almost always busy with guests waiting to check in.
    • Note: You can start picking up a check-in queue ticket on-site from 10:00 a.m. Self check-in opens at 2:50 p.m., and in-person check-in at the front desk begins exactly at 3:00 p.m. To avoid a long wait, it’s best to either arrive early to secure your queue ticket first or come later and check in at a more relaxed pace.

    2. Check-In Time: Standard check-in begins at 3:00 PM.

    3. Required Documents: Present a valid photo ID (passport for international guests) and your reservation confirmation.

    4. Assignment: Rooms are typically assigned by the front desk based on your reservation type, check-in time, and guest preferences (e.g., high floor, city view, non-smoking).
    • Note: Once your room is assigned, the front desk will carefully review your printed reservation details, including guest information, room type, stay dates, and any packages or promotions applied. You will also receive guidance on hotel policies and procedures and be asked to sign a consent form confirming your agreement to the hotel’s terms of stay and its 100% non-smoking room policy. Occasionally, temporary inconveniences may occur due to events, filming, or maintenance, so to avoid or minimize any disruption during your stay, it is recommended to listen carefully to the front desk staff’s instructions and follow their guidance.

    5. Parking Registration:
    • Guests with vehicles can register 1 car per room for free parking during their stay.
    • Show your license plate number to the front desk upon check-in.
    • Note: The hotel does not provide alternative parking if the underground lot is full.

    6. Signing the consent form: After signing the consent form, you proceed with payment for the room. You can pay using the credit or debit card you provided earlier, a different card, a company or corporate card for business purposes, or cash. Regardless of the payment method, a receipt will always be issued. Once payment is complete, your passport and credit/debit card will be returned to you.
    • If you’ve already prepaid through a third-party app such as Agoda, HotelsCombined, or Hotels.com, you can receive your room key immediately upon signing the consent form.

    7. Key Collection: Receive your room key card after completing the check-in process.

    8. Requesting in-room amenities: If you have additional requests such as setting up a humidifier, installing an air purifier, arranging a baby crib, or attaching a baby guard (bed rail), make sure to request them with the front desk staff during the check-in process.
    • If you didn’t mention certain requests during check-in, you can use the in-room phone to dial 0 and make your request over the call. However, please note that if the requested items are out of stock at that time, they may not be available for delivery or installation.

    9. Additional Services:
    • The 9th floor lobby also features a business corner, fitness center, self-laundry, and lounge seating for relaxation.
    • Staff can assist with concierge requests, local directions, or hotel facility guidance.

💡 Pro Tip: After completing check-in, you can take the elevator to your room. When tagging your key card, make sure to use only one card at a time—if multiple cards are stacked together in the card holder, the scanner may not recognize them properly. Also, note that RFID-issued key cards can occasionally malfunction if stored together with your smartphone. In such cases, simply visit the front desk to request a reissue of your key card.

    Lotte Resort Sokcho: Check-Out Guide

tvN drama Encounter Episode 8 filming location: Lotte Resort Sokcho, 1st floor lobby front desk, check-out scene capture. (Image source: Encounter Official YouTube)

    1. Check-In Time: The official check-out time at 11:00 a.m. sharp
    • This time doesn’t mean you have to be out of the room exactly at 11, but rather that you must reach the front desk by then to complete the check-out process — returning your room key card and formally notifying the hotel of your departure.

    2. Late Check-Out Policy: The late check-out policy is as follows: a 30% surcharge of the regular room rate applies for check-outs until 3:00 PM, 50% for check-outs until 5:00 PM, and 100% for check-outs after 5:00 PM.
    • Advance reservation is required, and same-day requests may not be available depending on room occupancy.

    3. Location of Check-Out: Check-Out is handled at the front desk located inside the first-floor lobby.

    4. Check for any additional charges:
    • Check-out involves clearing all personal belongings from the room and proceeding to the front desk on the 1st floor to return the room key(s) initially issued, along with any other rented items. If there are any additional charges, payment is settled at this time.
    • Return your key card to the front desk staff, who will verify your room number and confirm any additional charges such as minibar use, restaurant bills, or late check-out fees.
    • If your stay was prepaid through third-party platforms like Agoda, Hotels.com, or Booking.com, the staff will simply confirm your reservation details without any additional payment required. For bookings made directly through the LOTTE Hotels website or on-site, any remaining balance can be settled by credit card, corporate card, or cash, with a printed receipt provided for your records.

    5. Self Check-Out: There’s a self-checkout kiosk located in front of the front desk on the first floor. Simply insert your room keycard, and the checkout will be completed automatically. Using the kiosk is significantly faster and more convenient than going through the traditional checkout process at the front desk.

    6. Luggage Storage Service: There are storage lockers available in the first-floor lobby, and guests can use them free of charge until midnight on the day of checkout. After 12:00 a.m., a usage fee will be applied, so plan accordingly.

💡 Pro Tip: Weekends and Mondays tend to be peak check-out times (especially between 10:00 AM and 11:00 PM). To avoid long elevator waits and front desk lines, plan to check out a little earlier—around 09:30 AM—for a smoother departure.
